나는 어린시절부터 산을 좋아하여 속리산 문장대를 시작으로 전국의 여러 산에 올랐으며, 갈 때마다 그곳에 자리한 사찰들을 함께 방문했던 시절이 있었습니다.
산을 오르며 느끼는 자연의 장엄함과 평온함은 언제나 마음을 정화시켜 주었고, 산속에 자리한 사찰들은 바위를 품은 숲과 완벽하게 어우러져 있었습니다.
사찰마다 느껴지는 고즈넉함은 저마다의 독특한 매력을 지니고 있었고, 특히 단청과 정교하게 쌓아 올린 탑의 아름다운 곡선은 신비로움 그 자체였습니다.
단청의 화려한 색감과 섬세한 문양, 탑의 웅장한 모습은 마치 시간의 흐름을 초월한 듯한 느낌을 주었고, 그런 아름다운 감상에 젖었던 시절들이 떠오릅니다.
그 시절, 산과 사찰을 찾는 여행은 단순한 방문이 아닌, 마음의 평안을 찾는 소중한 시간이었고, 자연과 전통문화의 조화로움 속에서 깊은 감동을 느꼈습니다.
나는 이러한 단청을 전통과 현대를 연결하는 교차점이라고 판단하여 전통적인 요소를 현대적 맥락에서 재구성하고,
새로운 재료와 기법을 통해 그 아름다움을 표현하였습니다.
이러한 표현은 전통과 현대의 융합을 통해 역사적 흐름과 개인이 어떻게 끊임없이 연결되고 재구성되는지를 탐구하는 작업으로 확장되었습니다.
단청은 우리의 삶이 일시적이지 않고 끊임없이 반복되는 거대한 흐름 속에 있음을 상기시켜줍니다.

Since I was a child, I liked mountains and climbed many mountains across the country, starting with Songnisan Munjangdae,
and there was a time when I visited temples located there together.
The majesty and tranquility of nature as you climb the mountain have always purified your mind,
and the temples located in the mountain are perfectly harmonized with the forest containing rocks.
Each temple's quietness had its own unique charm, especially the beautiful curves of the Dancheong and the elaborately stacked towers were mysterious.
Dancheong's colorful colors, delicate patterns, and the magnificent appearance of the tower made me feel as if I had transcended the passage of time,
and I recall the days when I was soaked in such beautiful appreciation.
At that time, the trip to the mountains and temples was not just a visit, but a precious time to find peace of mind, and I was deeply moved by the harmony of nature
and traditional culture. I judged this dancheong as an intersection between tradition and modernity,
reconstructing traditional elements in a modern context,
and expressing its beauty through new materials and techniques.
These representations have been extended to the work of exploring historical flows and how individuals are constantly connected
and reconstructed through the fusion of tradition and modernity. Dancheong reminds us that our lives are in a huge flow that is not temporary but is constantly repeated.
